This annual event takes place on Saturday, June 9th from 9AM – 4PM at the Mendon Ponds Park Beach Area. The Expo is hosted by The Genesee Valley Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club. RBC will be one of many outdoor recreation organizations to participate in the Expo.
What's Involved?Volunteers may choose to assist during the morning (8:30 - Noon), afternoon (Noon - 4), or for the entire day.
Volunteers can expect to receive a good deal of foot traffic throughout the Expo. Volunteers should feel comfortable sharing basic information about the club and it's activities, how to join the club, etc. and have basic familiarity with the printed materials on display. There will be time for you to check out the other groups participating.
Contact Kathy Riegel if you have any questions or can help out even for a couple of hours.
Everyone believes they know how to ride a bike but how much do you really know about safe riding?
We are excited to be able to offer a series of bicycle safety classes this year led by RBC Member, Lori Burch. Lori is a Cycling Instructor certified by the League of American Bicyclists.
This course is given in 2 parts plus a built in rain date. There is a 3 hr on Tuesday evening and a 3 hr session on Saturday afternoon. Please keep the rain date open in case we have to cancel one of the other sessions due to inclement weather. This is a hands-on, active participation cycling class with the majority of instruction outside both days, so bring your bike and helmet both days.
Improve your comfort level and confidence with riding on 2 wheels! In this class participants will learn about and practice the following basic cycling skills in the safety of a closed parking lot:
This clinic is anything you want it to be. Got any questions about touring or other kinds of riding? Want to know how to shift your gears better? Problems with your pump? How to ride in a group? We can cover whatever you want. Bikes are welcome.
This is a hands on class in dealing with the most common problem bikes have. Attendees bring their bike or wheel (if they already know how to remove and reinstall the wheel) along with any tools, tubes, pumps they have. We’ll instruct everyone through a trial tire/tube repair. If members wish to bring fresh tires or tubes they are welcome to. Questions about care, prevention and current trends will be covered. Expect to get dirty.
open to current paid RBC members.
